Overview: Jasira, a 13-year-old Arab-American Girl, browsing the confusing and frightening path of adolescence and sexual awakening. When Jasira's mother sent to Houston to live with her strict Lebanese father, who quickly learns that his new neighbors find her father and her curiosity. Worse, his fledgling women and makes its traditional hot-tempered father uncomfortable. Lonely in this new environment, Jasira looking for friendship and acceptance of its neighbours Mr. Vuoso, a reservist Army, and Melina, an intrusion, but caring mother. Thrown into an unknown world suburban, Jasira must confront racism and hypocrisy at home and at school - and at the same time struggle to make sense of their raging hormones and new sexuality. Her boyfriend, Thomas, although a few years older, provides some comfort - but even that relationship causes problems when his father discovers that Thomas is black. Surrounded by adults who are as lost as she is, Jasira yearns for understanding, even in the midst of often brutal acts.
