Overview: For decades, the mainland of South americas Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has clocked in as surprisingly lethal. Its scars of violence and blood strewn ghettos (or "favelas") are regularly patrolled by gangs of drug-crazed fire whose battles with police often are deployed on main roads and regular turn in civilian casualties. In response, the Brazilian government formed a crack paramilitary force known as the BOP (Batalhão de Operaçoes policiais Especiais, or Special Police Battalion's operations) to take matters into their own hands. Now, director Jose Padilha social conscience-drama elite troops brings viewers inside BOP for a scathing indictment of the cycle of violence that pervades Brazilian society, screenplay 12 years of more bop veteran Rodrigo Pimentel. Wagner Moura (Hector Babenco's Carandiru) stars as the captain Nascimento, the leader of a unit that BOP is seriously considering retirement in the face of his imminent fatherhood. In an effort to elect his successor, he looks at two young recruits, part-time law student Andre Matias (André Ramiro) and the bellicose bell Net (Caio Junqueira) - but quickly recognized that these men will have to mature naive seriously before one can take the reins. Inevitably, the events that each encounter on the streets of Brazil lower - especially a trip to clean up some of the neighborhoods in anticipation of the Pope's visit - are starting to redefine the way and manner that can not even begin to anticipate . Meanwhile, Bop faces its own internal problems - including extreme corruption and underhandedness of each unit leader, whose range set aside activities resupply of weapons to gangs in the extortion of a banda clubs.
