Overview: Academy Award ® winner Robert De Niro (raging bull) and Al Pacino (Scent of a woman) stars as a pair of veterans of New York City police detectives on the trail of a serial murderer in vigilante adrenaline fuel psychological thriller Righteous Kill, directed by Jon Avnet (Red Corner, fried green tomatoes) and written by Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man). The cast also features hip-hop superstar Curtis Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin).
After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives Fisk and David Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but Arent. Before they can hang their badges, are called to investigate the murder of a known pimp, who seems to have ties to a case that resolved years ago.
Like the original murder, the victim is an alleged criminal whose body is accompanied by a poem in four lines justifying the murder. When other crimes take place, it shows the detectives are looking for a serial murderer, one of the objectives that criminals who have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. Its mission is to do what the police cannot do in their owntake offenders off the streets forever. The similarities between the recent murders and his previous case raise a pressing question: Does putting the wrong man behind bars?
