Overview: Jan Dite, the young waiter provincial wants to be a millionaire. Armed with this knowledge and an irrepressible desire to please leave a pub in a brothel luxury, and finally pass an elegant Art Nouveau of Prague restaurant. But at the end of 1930, things are changing: Hitler took the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia and break apart. January falls in love with Liz (Julia Jentsch), a Sudeten German proud of his Aryan blood. Was married, and shortly after Liz is sent to serve in the Polish front, while stays behind January to serve as a nurse in a Nazi SS Research Hospital, but when I returned, she has a fortune in rare stamps that Jews had 'behind' ... After the death of Liz, Jan sells stamps and becomes a millionaire. But he only has three years to enjoy his fortune: the new communist regime put him behind bars for 15 years. After his release from prison, Jan is sent to live in a decrepit border town. January Here reflects on the events that have shaped his life.
