Overview: Small and graced with oversized ears, Despereaux was born too big for his small world. Refusing to live his life cowering, becomes friends with a name of the princess and the pea learns to read (rather than eat) books - reveling in stories of knights, dragons and fair maidens. Banished from Mouseworld to be more men that the mouse, Despereaux is rescued by another outcast, Roscuro, who also wants to hear the stories. But when the Princess dismisses Roscuro friendship, becomes the last rat and plots revenge with his fellow outside Mig. After Pea is kidnapped, Despereaux discovers that it is the only one who can rescue her ... and that even the smallest mouse can find the courage of a knight in shining armor. In this story of bravery, forgiveness and redemption, a small creature will teach a kingdom that it takes only a little light to show the truth: what appears is not the same as what you are.
